About This Place

Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Mia's Italian Kitchen is a delightful Italian restaurant that brings the rich flavors of Italy straight to Virginia. At 100 King St, the restaurant effortlessly combines authentic Italian culinary tradition with a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for everything from casual lunches to special anniversary dinners.

Step inside or enjoy their charming outdoor seating area—a favorite spot for diners who appreciate al fresco dining amid the vibrant fall décor that adds a seasonal, cozy charm. From the moment you arrive, the ambiance feels both relaxed and elegant, echoing the spirit of a European trattoria with a modern American touch.

The menu at Mia’s Italian Kitchen is a treasure trove of Italian classics, expertly crafted with fresh ingredients and bold flavors. Start your meal with the irresistibly creamy Burrata, accented by heirloom tomatoes, smoked salt, and basil, or savor the Giant Meatball—a generously sized, tender house-made all-beef meatball swimming in a rich San Marzano marinara that customers rave about. The garlic toast accompanying dishes is another standout: charred just enough on the outside while soft and pillowy inside, perfect for dipping.

Among signature entrees, the Chicken Parmigiana Pasta boasts a comforting blend of breaded chicken, tangy marinara, and molten cheese, paired exquisitely with perfectly al dente pasta. For those seeking robust, traditional flavors, the Rigatoni Alla Bolognese and Lasagna Bolognese offer deeply savory experiences that are hearty yet balanced. Seafood options such as Mussels Fra Diavola bring a spicy kick enlivened by the fresh ocean taste.

Vegetarian guests are well-catered for with delights like the Zucchini Fries—crispy, golden, and unexpectedly addictive—and the Tiramisu, a classic Italian dessert rendered with creamy, dreamy finesse. For a complete sensory experience, their cocktail selection perfectly complements the menu, enhancing every bite with refreshing and inventive flavors.

Customers repeatedly praise the combination of authentic taste and generous portions. One diner noted the giant meatball was “incredible, so soft and tender,” while another loved the fall-themed outdoor seating that made their lunch “so relaxing.” Service is highlighted for being friendly and knowledgeable, with servers who clearly know the menu inside and out, making recommendations that elevate the dining experience.

Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, catching up with friends, or simply craving genuine Italian fare, Mia’s Italian Kitchen delivers a memorable blend of atmosphere, flavor, and heartfelt hospitality that makes every visit feel like a special occasion.

The place is really nice with great outdoor seating. The giant meatball was incredible, so soft and tender, and the San Marzano marinara had so much flavor. We ended up ordering 2 giant meatballs. It was that good. The burrata was creamy and delicious. The bread they serve tastes charred and it is unbelievably soft inside, easily a 10/10, and it is perfect for dipping in the marinara. The Caesar salad was fine, nothing special, and the sauce was not anything memorable. The white carbonara with mushrooms was really good. The pasta was cooked perfectly and just the right amount of chew. The service was not great. Our waitress was hard to understand, not very attentive, and she forgot things we asked for. Overall, the food deserves a 9/10. I would definitely come back. Also the prices are very reasonable.

WOW!! My mother and I had the most relaxing lunch date at Mia’s. I’ve been to many restaurants throughout Europe (primarily Germany, France, Belgium and Italy) and I really love Italian food. This restaurant gives the most authentic European vibes in Old Town Alexandria. Being that fall season is here, they decorated the restaurant and outdoor seating so beautifully! We loved it We saw the menu special and both decided on ordering the Strawberry Limoncello Frozen Margarita — and it was spectacular Not only was it delicious, it was just a beautiful piece of art! The red from the strawberry and the gold edible glitter just set this thing off!!! Such a beautiful and aesthetic piece of art!!! We were wanting a small bite to eat and ordered a personal pizza to share. The pizza here is heavenly!!! The crust is crunchy and delicious, and they had a good variety of topping choices, plus it’s homemade and baked to perfection! I can’t wait to come back and bring more family and friends to enjoy drinks and food here. The staff members were so amazing from the moment we walked in. The waitress even asked if anyone had food allergies and we really appreciated their hospitality and consideration. Overall, here are my scores for Mias: Food 10/10 Drinks 10/10 Menu variety & prices 10/10 Location 10/10 Customer Service 10/10

We had a wonderful dining experience at Mia’s Italian Kitchen. For appetizers, we ordered the grilled roasted garlic toast, which was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. For dinner, I had the spaghetti alla carbonara with blackened chicken; rich, creamy, and perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the branzino with broccolini, and it was fresh, light, and beautifully prepared. The service was amazing, attentive without being overwhelming, and the atmosphere was great. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas, which made the experience feel extra warm and festive

Overall this place was amazing! We had Nina and Andrew, she was a great at training and you could tell she really knew the restaurant and menu. The food was so good and it has very large portions! I got the chicken parm and it was so good, they told me it was spicy but to me it wasn’t but it was still amazing!!! As well as the zucchini fries were so good, an unexpected delight! Lastly the desert, we got the tiramisu, chocolate lava cake, and the donuts! All of them were good but not as good as dinner, really showed how the main dish is the star of the show!

Oh my gosh, what an amazing experience! We came for our anniversary and both selected their tasting menu that includes an appetizer, salad, entree, and dessert for $39!!! This isn't generic frozen food, everything is made from scratch and was delicious. We had the meatball egg roll with san marzano jam and fried zucchini for a starter, Cesar and arugula & strawberry for our salad, lasagna and linguine & clams for entree, then the tiramisu for dessert. Our wait was Chris and provided GREAT service. We wish we lived closer so we could come back, very enjoyable experience!

Went to Mia’s Italian Kitchen for brunch with a girlfriend, and we had such a great time. The place was buzzing—packed with people enjoying their bottomless brunch, and for good reason. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Our food came out quickly, and there was plenty to go around. Everything we tried was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. Definitely worth every penny!

We went here as a large party with a reservation for a late lunch and the restaurant was extremely crowded. We were seated at a table all the way against a wall which was very awkward and uncomfortable. It was also so loud that we could hardly each the person next to us. The service was a bit slow but the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I’m not the best person to rate Italian dishes since I don’t eat dairy, but my minestrone soup and vegan cheese pizza were fantastic. It was probably the best vegan cheese pizza I have ever tried and I hope more restaurants start to use the Selfish Cow vegan cheese! Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food so I’m guessing it was all good. I’d come back again and get two personal pizzas next time.

Great service! I wish I remembered our server’s name, she was amazing! The food was tasty - only thing I didn’t love was the grilled chicken. Fettuccini Alfredo was yummy and Cesar salad was good but the bread was the best!! And tasty drinks! I’d go back…next time with a reservation though - thankfully, there was an open high top at the bar.
